First Man to Walk on Mars?????

Career Day at school was on Wednesday...Jeremy went to school in the above outfit...thanks to Jodi for getting it in the mail so fast from Connecticut so he had it to wear...there is nothing else that he wants to be more than an astronaut!
This is a picture that Jeremy drew for Buzz Aldrin that we will include in a letter that we have written to Buzz. I think that this is one of my favorite space pictures that Jeremy has done...he worked very hard and careful and said, "Buzz is going to love this picture!" as he was drawing it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just finished reading "Magnificent Desolation" by Buzz Aldrin. Of course, the main reason I am drawn to his book is because Jeremy is so into space at this time. Last night Jeremy and I were reading a book called "Living on the Moon" (thanks Granny!) and Jeremy said, "I am so going to Mars!" That comment made me think of the book and Buzz Aldrin's hope for the future of space travel. Here are some of my favorite lines from Buzz's book in regards to man going to Mars:
  • "I believe mankind must explore or expire. We must venture outward. And one way or another, when men and women first set foot on Mars, I will be there, whether watching on my flat-screen television in my Los Angeles home, or looking down from the stars."
  • "I look forward to seeing these things happening during my lifetime, but if they don't, please keep this dream alive; please keep going; Mars is there waiting for your footsteps."
I need to buy stock in a paper company!
This picture has a mountain with snow on it (lower right corner) and next to the mountain is a girl painting the mountain. Next to her is a monster ball shooting stuff out of his head and next to him is a man. Above is a sun and a ghost and two meteors.
This is a maze that I had help the ghost find his way to the haunted house. The clue is the stairs. The ghost has to stay away from the black cats because they will block your way. The witch will just stand there waiting for the ghost to come by. The pumpkins just waiting like the witch too and the bats are just to chase the ghost.
So then Jeremy drew a few mazes of his own that you will see above and below.
This is a volcano with meteors flying and a ghost and the man is getting burned by lava and the volcano is a she and has a face because she is friendly and there is a rocket ship with guy tied to it and the lines are music going down to Earth and the sun.....
One guy is jumping upside down and the other guy is jumping right side up and they are jumping on the building that has a spider on it and the small green picture is a restaurant.
Monsters...that is a giant monster and that is a monster and the giant monster is standing on top of the building. Then a tree with an apple hanging and a flower and a flower.
A tornado is heading towards this house and the sun is out.
This is a rain storm with a garbage can in the grass.
This is a rainbow with the sun hiding behind it.
This is hearts turning into rocket ships.
This is one heart that is turning into a space ship.
All of the pictures above were drawn by Jeremy during his after school care today. Everyday I pick him up and there are a handful of pictures that he has drawn during his few hours he stays after school. Today, however, there were enough to make a book! Not to mention that he usually draws about this many every few days at home. Needless to say I am getting buried in paper but they are all so precious to me at this time and I want to keep them. Not to mention that I love to see how he progresses in his artistic ability. So, I am going to try and put this blog to work in the way that it was meant to. I am going to take pictures of and post a lot of his pictures so that I can track the progression of his art as time goes on. I am going to therefore have a digital copy as well as one on my blog to keep rather than keeping EVERY.SINGLE.ONE of them. And, I hear that my dad is enjoying looking at Jeremy's art so this way Dad can also follow along with Jeremy's Artistic Journey. And of course the 3-4 other of you out there that look at this blog every so often! NOTE: the captions under the pictures are Jeremy's words for what the pictures are.
I CANNOT get this picture to post the right way....but I really want to post it! Tonight Jeremy decided that he WANTED to learn math...so I told him we could play a game to learn. I brought up our marbles and showed him a few times how to count 3 marbles + 4 marbles and then put them together and count them all to figure out that 3+4=7....etc. Then he wanted to do it himself...so he wrote out the number that he wanted to add and used his marbles to figure out the right answer. The page you can see in this picture he did all by himself while I cleaned the kitchen. I was pretty excited that he actually WANTED to do this and we had fun!
How can he be the same kid?
Artwork By Jeremy
Jeremy's school...like many...do this art fundraiser. This is Jeremy's artwork that was put on a magnet and sent home to us so that we will buy it for $5 plus a multitude of other items with their artwork on it. Unfortunately....like many....I don't have extra money to spend on buying his artwork on a magnet or a shirt or a quilt square or a mug or a key chain or a....well, you get the point! So, I decided to scan it and share it..for free...with all of you! I hope you enjoy this artwork of his. I feel as if someone "helped" him to make this picture....it doesn't seem like something that he would have done way back at the beginning of the year....now if they had sent something home that looked as if he actually drew it and it resembled the amazing artwork that I posted in my last post....I might have gotten sucked in to at least a magnet. Oh well, maybe next year!
Quite the Little Artist! ~ *Correction* & *Update* (10/13/09)
*Selena Gomez* NOT Hannah Montana Singing on Stage
Notice: The music notes...he told me that the single notes are "tas" and the double notes are "tee tee s"...that is what he is learning in kindermusik with Miss. Jeanneane!
*Update* I talked to Miss. Jeanneane tonight and she has not introduced "tee tees" in class yet...she said that he must be learning that in school music class.
This is a picture of the haunted barn that we went through on our wagon ride at Gobbertt's yesterday. The one below is another picture that was inspired by our wagon ride and trip to Gobbertt's.
This one is a mermaid...on the right...that is going to save that boy...on the left...from drowning! I just love his mermaids! :-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jeremy LOVES to draw!! He draws ALL.THE.TIME! After we do something or he sees something on tv he has to draw it! He drew the one of *Selena Gomez* NOT Hannah Montana after we watched one of her videos on UTube. *It was Selena singing "Tell Me Something I Don't Know"* I just love to see what his little mind comes up with. I also think that he is quite the artist for age 5!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10/13/09 ~ When I was telling my mom the story about this Hannah Montana picture he corrected me very abruptly...."It is NOT a picture of Hannah Montana Mommy!!! It is a picture of Selena Gomez!" Okay...so sorry...hence the correction and update!
The Many Faces of Jeremy
Jeremy has been learning about feelings at school and how to tell how someone is feeling based on the face they are making. He asks me all the time, "Mommy? Are you Mad?" He asks this every time I am slightly raising my voice with him.....okay, yelling is more like it. Anyway, I am usually not mad I am always frustrated so my answer every time is, "No Jeremy. I am not mad. I am frustrated." Well, yesterday he said to me at another time like this, "Mommy are you mad???....or are you just frustrated?"
While I was posting......
......someone fell asleep!
(Maddie was shivering next to him because she is afraid of the massive wind storm that we are having!)
Carnival Fun!
Emma & Jeremy
What a Sweet Smile!
Jeremy with Tigger....he can't wait to show this picture to Mrs. Kruckenburg! She loves Tigger!
Jeremy LOVED this clown that had three little mice in a box!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We went to a carnival with some friends down the street....it was actually the company's employee party where she works! We had a BLAST! Emma is a friend of Jeremy's that he met in Night Owl Preschool last year...however...she goes to a different elementary school so we don't get to see her or spend time with her very often. It was a fun day!
