MONSTERS!!!

Jeremy is a bit worried about monsters in his room. Yesterday morning, while I was in the bathroom getting ready for work, I hear Jeremy run down the hall screaming. He gets to the bathroom door and I ask him what is wrong. "Monsters!" I ask him, "Where is there a monster?" "In there!" he says pointing to his dark bedroom. "Well, lets turn on your light so the monster will go away." I turn on his bedroom light and we walk into his room. I say, "See, there are no monsters in here." He comes in and starts turning in circles looking everywhere and then he says, "Monster....where are you!?" It is all I can do to keep from cracking up!

So, last night, we are playing and we are in his room. I am sitting on his bed and all of the sudden he screams and runs over to the bed and franticly climbs up by my and says, "Oh no! Monsters in here!" "Well, hurry, come over by Mommy! I will keep you safe from the Monsters." So, there we are, sitting on his bed, talking about monsters. He goes on to tell me that the monster is in the hallway and that it is going downstairs to the other kids house and then he says it is going outside. Then all of the sudden he says, "Scary eyes!" I say, "Oh, the monster has scary eyes? What color is the monster?" "Yellow!", he says so I ask "What color are his eyes?", "Blue". Then I tell him, "If you want the monsters to go away, all you have to do is say 'MONSTERS! GO AWAY!'" So he says very loudly, "MONSTERS! GO AWAY!"

Next we are in the living room watching football and he hears some kids running out in the hallway. He runs over to me and says, "Oh, Monsters! Out there!" Then it was time for bed and we go to lay down and he says, "Light on! Monsters!" I tell him that Mommy is here and that we have to go to sleep so we have to turn the light out. He still seems very worried about these monsters so I reassure him that there are none and that I will keep him safe. We both fell asleep and never woke up again until this morning!

So, now I am thinking about all this monster stuff and decided that I had better hide the "Nightmare Before Christmas" movie. That has been his movie of choice for the past few days. We will put it away and save if for later (like when he is 13!). I also think I better not let him see "Monsters, Inc." just yet. I will hide that one for a while as well!

My Little World Traveler

I know it looks as if Jeremy has traveled the world if you go by his t-shirts. However, he has only been to Seattle, Indiana and Minnesota (Wisconsin if you count states he has driven through). The shirts pictured above from Canada, Germany and Yosemite National Park are from our very good friends, the Reichardts. Thank you Jim, Gary and Maureen for the great shirts! Enjoy the pictures!

Me and Ms. Karen

Every Tuesday from 9am-10am I have speech therapy with Ms. Karen. I LOVE to go to "play" with Ms. Karen. Today I got to play with baby Ernie. I also practiced how to say the K sound and the G sound. I am getting pretty good at talking....now I am just working on my sounds. I will continue in speech therapy for another 6 months. By next April Ms. Karen will probably graduate me from speech class!!! Enjoy the picture.

2 year olds ~ you can't live with them....you can't live without them!!!

This morning my sweet 2 year old is driving me a bit crazy! He is saying "NO!" to everything and when I say no to him he has a melt down! So, I decided that I can't take it today and I gently put him in his room on his bed screaming. I told him that when he is done crying then he can come out. I close his door and I leave. Now, this is the first time that I have done this to him....however, I have a feeling his father may do it when he is home with him.....I listen to him and try not to feel guilty as he cries....but eventually there is no crying. I hear him talking but still I stay out. Later I hear him say "Mommy!!" So I decide to go in there and check on him. What I find melts my heart!!! He is sitting on his bed with little red eyes and a tear on his cheek and he has "That's Not My Dinasaur" on his lap. We have been reading that before bed for the last few nights. He looks up at me when I walk in with the tear on his cheek and says...."Mommy, teeth...too bumpy!!" And he has the page open to the T Rex that says "That's not my dinasaur...his teeth are too bumpy." This beeing the reason that I could never live without him!! Kids always have a way of making up for the times they drive you crazy!

GO HOKIES!!!

TRIBUTE TO A LEGEND

Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter
His spirit, enthusiasm and love for animals will be missed.
I woke up this morning and like always...turned on the tv to the Disney Channel....it wasn't until my mother-in-law called me and told me of this horrible tragedy that I was aware of it. I don't know why but for some reason it just struck a heartstiring and I haven't cried so hard in a while!!! I have great memories of watching this incredible person! I think that Animal Planet and The Crocodile Hunter were on at our house 24/7 about 5 years ago when my step kids were over every weekend. That is what we always watched together. Recently, of course, with my own 2 year old I have watched the Wiggly Safari about 1,000 times! I am glad that we will always have these shows to watch but it is sad to know that the man in them is gone. The thing that I loved about him the most and even envied....was that he spent every moment of every day doing what he loved to do best! My heart goes out to his wife and his very young kids...Bindy (8) and Bob (2)!

Before & After

My New Favorite Expression
I really need a hair cut!
Now that's much better!
September 2....time for a haircut! This has never been one of our favorite things to do. This time Jeremy did great though because he will do anything for a "lollylop"! Jeremy's favorite words right now are, of course, "NO!", "Why?" and "Oh Man!" He sounds just like swiper the fox when he says it. I think that may be where he got it from. For those of you who don't know who swiper the fox is (Mom) he is on Dora the Explorer....Jeremy's favorite show....this week at least.
